Overview

The Dolch PAC keyboard was a part of the series of network analysers from Dolch which this keyboard was used on those machines such as the Dolch PAC 62 Mobile Sniffer and Network Analyser. I purchased this keyboard on the 03/07/2024 from Ebay for $142 AUD shipped. It was originally bought converted/rewired to USB and was missing the “ESC” and “4” keys. Everything else is completely stock.

Keycaps

The keycaps used on the G80-1813 are Cherry’s original thick doubleshot keycaps in a dark grey on light grey colour scheme. The "F" and "J" keys are scooped and the numberpad "5" key has a homing dot.

Switches

The switches the G80-1813 uses are Cherry MX Blue. Mine feel quite smooth and, while they sound rattly its still sound quite pleasant in this keyboard due to the roomy case. It also uses a Cherry MX Green on the spacebar as older keyboards tended to use special heavier variants of switches on the spacebars and some enter keys.

Plate/PCB

The G80-1813 is plateless and all the switches and stabilizers are mounted to the PCB. While being plateless, it has very little bounce to the typing feel. The PCB has many jumpers but lacks diodes so this keyboard has the standard 2-key rollover but the matrix is good enough for tpying but i have yet to game on this keyboard yet.

Case

The G80-1813 weighs [XXX] and while it has some flex to the case, it still feels quite premium and nice to use. The G80-1813 has flip-out feet on the bottom that have a very nice clunk when they are locked into place. The whole board is 23.8mm thick and is very flat, so the feet are very useful when typing.

Future Plans

While this board is very nice and comes with a great case, colorway, and keycaps, the switches still could be better. In the future, I plan to modify my G80-1813 and take out the MX Blues and swap in Zeal Clickiez or another click leaf-based MX compatible switch.
